“Be happy. Stay happy.”
“Love your life.”
“Be original, love yourself.”
“Learn to feel contented towards your life.”
I can write many more phrases like these to “motivate” you or “encourage” you. I am sure that you are not coming across these for the first time. There exists plenty of them and yes we need them too.
It’s really good to come up with these self-loving quotes and phrases. It’s good to advice someone for making them live their lives happily. It is good to support people and be there when they need you, be it your friends, family, colleagues; anyone. But you know what, we are not super-humans. At some points in our lives all this feels worthless. I am talking about one of those periods with your bad days. Everyone goes through them, doesn’t matter for what reasons.
Days when you think and feel that your life is terrible. Your conditions are stagnant and dull. When you look around yourself, you see happy faces and then you look at yourself with disgust and feel useless. Days when you don’t feel like talking to anyone and so you just isolate yourself. When all you want to do is be alone and cry your heart out. You try to think why you are feeling the way you are feeling and get no particular reason for that. And then you start coming up with different possible reasons which make you feel even more gloomy. You do your errands, you read, you work, you do everything normally but none of it feels like reaching to your system correctly. On those days, you just sit and stare into blankness, trying to realize about how empty you are from inside.
All your emotions stream out and you suddenly feel your world coming down out of your control. You start processing deep thoughts and self-analysis. Your realities discontinue to match your expectations. You feel lonely and that no one loves you and everyone takes you for granted. That you don’t really seem to be important or special in anyone’s life. You feel anxious about what would happen if things always remained the way they are. And with those thoughts you somehow struggle and manage to get a sleep.
Now, if you think all this happens only with you, trust me you are not alone. Life is challenging. It cannot be and remain sweet and pretty all the time. There are weak moments, existential crisis does exists. It’s okay to cry and feel sad. Those are human emotions too. If you think you’ll never get over and done with these thoughts, let me tell you, this is just another phase of life. “Even this shall pass away”. You are going to be okay.
We all get to face this realistic and practical side of our lives. It’s all part of the same business. We don’t need to stress too much on one part only. You are strong and sensible enough to know your self-worth. You will be happy again. There exists some darkness just before the dawn.
